Photo Facials (Photo rejuvenation)

Photo rejuvenation is a process which uses intense pulse light (IPL) to treat pigmented and vascular lesions for overall improvement in skin tone. Pulsed light systems are similar to lasers. However, they have a larger beam for wider coverage and faster, more comfortable treatments.

Pigmented lesions are known by other names:
Solar lentigines, age spots, sunspots, liver spots

Actinic bronzing is an overall browning of the skin which occurs over time and is not a recent tanning. The light heats the pigment and breaks it up. The lesion or brown area crusts after treatment and is naturally shed from the skin as it comes to the surface over a 10-14 day period. More than one treatment may be required because not all brown spots are the same shade and different settings for the pulsed light are required to be attracted by the different shades of brown.

Vascular lesions are known by other names:
Spider veins, telangiectasias, hemangiomas , rosacea, flushing skin

Intense pulsed light heats the red pigment or blood in the vascular lesions which damages the walls of the small blood vessels. They may then become redder or a gray tint. These areas fade from sight after about 2 weeks. During the procedure, you may experience a feeling similar to that of a mild rubber band snap. Most people do not report this sensation as painful. Vascular lesions may require more than one treatment.
