BOTOX® Cosmetic

Botox cosmetic use is the single most common aesthetic procedure performed in men and women in the U.S.. Botox is most often used to soften deep wrinkles in the upper face caused by the muscles of expression, especially those which show concern, anger, unhappiness and pleasure. For example, some people squint as a habit, or because they don’t wear sunglasses (golfers), which causes the “crow’s feet” beside the eyes. Others wrinkle their brows in different ways as a habit of expression which causes deeper and more permanent grooves in the forehead.

Contrary to some misconceptions, Botox does not cause a “frozen face” appearance. It may result in some real changes in the deep lines seen in some individuals. Effects of Botox usually last 3-4 months. There have been studies which report that regular use results in longer lasting effects. Overall, Botox cosmetic is extremely safe. Adverse effects are usually mild and transient.
